Osaka University Hospital moved from Fukushima-ku, Osaka, to the Osaka University campus in Suita-shi and was reborn into the most advanced “intelligent hospital.” The new hospital comprises a 14-story hospital ward, a 5-story outpatient building and others, at a wide area about 3 times that of the former hospital. The entrance hall and the inside are spacious, with ivory and bright color tones, giving a sense of openness to patients.
A large number of state-of-the-art intelligent facilities for advanced medical treatment have been introduced, including a computer and information network, and various kinds of transport systems, to achieve highly efficient medical record management.
Long waiting time, which was unfavorably criticized by the patients, has been solved by cutting the time of their stay at the hospital in half through the introduction of the patient reservation system and the order entry system. For introducing the central medical-record control system based on a “one-patient, one-medical record” system, the automated medical record storage cabinet “SYSTEMA SINGLE PICKER” and track system SIMACOM VT-MC are connected with each other to achieve dynamic technological integration. The Osaka University Hospital is can be a model of an advanced next-generation hospital where labor and time saved by the transport systems can be diverted to patient services.
