The National Diet Library New Building can store 7,500,000 books in its book storage space.
In the building, state-of-the-art technologies have been introduced, including an incoming and outgoing book management system by computer as well as the optical fiber communication facilities to play a function of a document information center.
The book transport system, as the arteries of the library, plays an important role at the library, because of the closed stack system which restricts direct access to the stack room.
