The Social Insurance Chukyo Hospital was established in December 1947 by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in order to treat the diseases and perform the health management of the insured patients and their dependents, as well as to implement exemplary medical treatments as a social insurance hospital.
Since 1958, All Japan Federation of Social Insurance Associations has been managing the hospital, and the specialist fields have increased in number and been reinforced. In 1959, the hospital was approved as a general hospital and underwent a restructuring to cope with the requirements of advanced medical treatments and has ever since been contributing to the society as a general hospital playing a central role in community health management.
The south wing of the main building and the whole main building were finally completed in 1989 and 1993, respectively. The main building was designed based on the concept of a “comfortable and safe hospital” with the priorities on patients’comfort and safety, as well as on securing flexibility and meeting the requirements of the hospital’s IT-intelligent orientation. For example, in implementing the “one-patient, one-file” system for patients, an outpatient medical record center was established. For such an implementation, an automatic transport system was introduced. Thanks to this system, all the sections are connected with one another, resulting in labor / time saving in the transportation of various materials including medical records.
